DESIGN-STREET-SHANGHAI
THE-ENEMY
western design brands face much STIFFER-COMPETITION-IN-CHINA from local rivals that have grown rapidly during the coronavirus pandemic.
for a design studio to exhibit internationally, it is EXPENSIVE<-TIME-CONSUMING-AND-A-HASSLE>
THE-PROPOSAL
launching for the first time at design shanghai’s 10th anniversary show, the design burger team designed and curated design street. the exhibition format featured a collection of top design studios from around the world to provide visitors an insight into who is behind the products they know and love.
THE-BUILD
the final construction was designed with rented recycled aluminium extrusions. this allowed for rapid assembly and disassembly during the 3-day build period, as well as the aluminium being able to be reused for future events.
THE-SHOW
design street allowed visitors to view each stand and product from a 360° angle, with a ‘door is always open’ design philosophy. the space provided a direct bridge between independent design studios and brands, whilst also promoting china’s ever-developing design industry. over the four-day exhibition, we saw over 100,000 visitors from all over the world.
the street included beta design office, leapx, side, everone, seletti, x-zoo, ruumoo, misolami, yimu art, roughness, win win tech and lkdn metaverse.
